Pattern and Form in Nature

Recently, in producing pieces of conventional naturalistic painting I have become interested in some of the detail of plants, grasses and undergrowth.  The rythyms and patterns found in this observational study have led me to a whole new series of paintings with a much closer focus, giving me the inspiration to introduce more abstraction and pattern as well as to experiment with different painting techniques.  I have also used the foliage of my home garden as a starting point in this series with trellis and bamboo featuring as a more structured background for the natural growth.  Also appearing in this Gallery are paintings of man’s controlling influence over natural growth. I am also moving into the abstraction of still life subjects although not strictly part of this gallery.
